The crafts of North India
Every region of North India has its own language of thread. Here are the traditions behind the pieces we carry.
पश्मीना
Pashmina
Kashmir
Pashmina takes its name from pashm, the Persian word for the fine winter undercoat of Himalayan mountain goats. Kashmir has made shawls from it for centuries, and the name has come to stand for their light, soft warmth. Each piece's description says what it is made of.

Lohi
Punjab
A lohi is the shawl Punjab reaches for when winter sets in: broad enough to wrap around the shoulders, warm, and worn by men and women alike over a kurta or a coat. Lohis come in solid colours and in checks, from everyday plain ones to bolder patterns.
